To float on - and in - water has been part of mans desire and activities maybe even longer that the dream of flying in the air.  But it was achieved a long time before flying.

Since the dawn of homo erectus there has been logs, hollow logs, different kinds of rafts in a long evolution up till today's offshore racers, submarines, and stealth naval ships.

For recreational purposes my dream boat/ship is the very seaworthy Colin Archer-constructed double enders that was used on the coast off Norway as rescue boats in the first part of the 20th century.

I have been having plans/dreaming about building one and making it the way I wanted it.  But as the years went by I realised that even if I would manage this it would take so much of my time and money that I wouldn't have a good life on other areas.  And since cars are such an important part of my life I wouldn't wand to rule that out.

And unless I would be prepared to sell my house and go sailing full time, it's a much better proposition to rent a boat every now and then to get sea under my feet.

So that will probably happen the coming summer - rent a sailboat for a couple of weeks and just go vagabonding....
